The Best Stimulus? Spend Less, Borrow Less

A fall in investment is normal in recessions. The problem this time is that corporate profits are rebounding fast, yet companies are extremely reluctant to reinvest them in new projects. “What I see out there is apprehension,” says Randy Altschuler, founder of CloudBlue, a recycler of used electronics equipment, and a Republican candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives from Eastern Long Island. “The owners of small companies I talk to are especially worried about health-care costs. Hence, they’re holding back hiring and capital investment.”

Recycling at CloudBlue

Specializing in electronic asset recycling, CloudBlue offers clients the security of knowing that their computer recycling is done safely, securely and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

With our zero-landfill policy, we demanufacture and recycle 100% of retired assets that we are unable to remarket.  During the demanufacturing process, we remove any hazardous materials and ship them to specially audited North American processing partners.  The rest of the obsolete and nonworking equipment is shredded, utilizing a process that separates the different metals and commodities in a form that allows for future reuse.

CloudBlue issues certificates of recycling, thereby greatly reducing any corporate legal exposure for its clients related to electronic asset disposal.

Legislative Compliance
Since 2004, over 93 bills were introduced on the US federal and state level concerning electronics and landfill disposal bans.  In addition, Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA and Gramm-Leach –Bliley govern the handling of certain financial and personal data.  Internationally, 11 countries including China have adopted the European Union Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment (WEEE) Directive.

CloudBlue remains up-to-date on all of these relevant environmental and data reporting laws and regulations to ensure that all of our recycling is compliant, relieving our customers of that burden.

Downstream Controls
CloudBlue partners with leaders in the downstream recycling industry that have been audited and qualified to our rigorous standards.  Our qualified partners are all in North America and process all electronic components in accordance with our strict contractual requirements, which in many cases exceed minimum regulatory statutes.  We work only with ethical, EPA-compliant recycling partners, and regularly audit and closely monitor their practices to ensure they meet all state and federal standards. CloudBlue’s partner standards are the strictest in the industry and include restrictions on the use of prison and child labor, U.S. government trade bans, and using recycled material in the manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction.
