Randy Altschuler’s Blog: Town Of Brookhaven Does The Right Thing

Randy Altschuler: Councilman Dan Panico and the Brookhaven Town Board did the right thing on June 15th, by placing a tax cap proposal on the November ballot. If passed by the voters, this legislation will send a clear message; we must not spend more than we take in! The tax cap is a perfect example of the common sense conservative approach to government that I’ve been talking about on the campaign trail in my effort to oust liberal incumbent Tim Bishop.

A fall in investment is normal in recessions. The problem this time is that corporate profits are rebounding fast, yet companies are extremely reluctant to reinvest them in new projects. “What I see out there is apprehension,” says Randy Altschuler, founder of CloudBlue, a recycler of used electronics equipment, and a Republican candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives from Eastern Long Island. “The owners of small companies I talk to are especially worried about health-care costs. Hence, they’re holding back hiring and capital investment.”

Nine House Candidates Outraised Their Incumbent Opponents

Randy Altschuler (R-N.Y.): Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop raised a healthy $1.3 million through Mar. 31 and still found himself outraised overall by Altschuler. Altschuler, who is running against Bishop in New York’s 1st District, reported raising $2 million through Mar. 31.

Fitzpatrick Departs GOP Congressional Primary, Smithtown Elected Officials Rally Around Altschuler

Following Fitzpatrick’s withdrawal Friday, several Smithtown officials immediately announced their support for Randy Altschuler, according to his campaign, including town councilmen Bob Creighton, Kevin Malloy, Tom McCarthy and Ed Wehrheim, Town Clerk Vincent Puleo, Superintendent of Highways Glenn Jorgensen and Receiver of Taxes Deanna Varricchio. “That’s a perfect example of how this has changed the dynamic of the race,” the Altschuler spokesman said.
